Exiting the Pornoland – EP 1. Accept the Situation for What it is Many people wanted to quit pornography and masturbation, but unfortunately they wanted to do that their way. But ask yourself honestly, would that really work? I receive a lot of enquiries from people who are struggling with porn addiction.
They got in touch because they are already fed up and don’t know what else to do. So if you wish to quit and rediscover your life without this misery, all you need to do is to listen to the experts and do as you’re told.
There is no other way. So in this episode, I’ll be briefly discussing the first solution that can bring you closer to the path of recovery from pornography, masturbation and any other undesirable sexual activities.
I know you must have heard that before. You will have to accept and admit that you are addicted and dependent on pornography. That’s the first step, whether you like it or not. I know that there are compulsive feelings trying to make you avoid this fact.
I know that there are lots of excuses preventing you from taking this very important step. I know that you blaming your culture, upbringing environment and everyone else but yourself. And I know how difficult it is to accept responsibility for this issue.
But this is the first thing you should do. And accepting the situation for what it is does not mean that you should admit that problem to your self only. No. You should think seriously of reaching out someone else other than yourself to help you out.
Someone that you trust. Someone who know how to walk you through the recovery path of purity and sobriety. But if you resisted, held back and delayed that decision, then recovery is not gonna be your fate.
Perhaps you can start today by admitting your mistakes to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى), God Amighty, by reciting the following beautiful supplication, sincerely from the bottom of your heart.
(اللهم أنت ربي لا إله إلا أنت) (خلقتني وأنا عبدك) (وأنا على عهدك ووعدك ما استطعت) (أعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت) (أبوء لك بنعمتك علي) (وأبوء بذنبي) (فاغفر لي فإنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت) “O Allah, You are my lord, none has the right to be worshipped but You.
You created me and I am your slave. And I’m faithful to my covenant and my promise as much as I can. I seek refuge with You from all the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You all the blessings that You have bestowed upon me.
And I confess to you all my sins. So forgive my sins, for nobody can forgive sins except You.” Once you’re done with the supplication, now it’s the time to decide who else should know about your situation.
And please don’t tell me, that there is no person on earth who can support you. There are many who can and many who will if you just could reach them out by humbling yourself, accept your addiction as a fact, give up your ego, surrender to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) and the rest would definitely be easier.
